Welcome to
The Shoreline!

Welcome to the 2023-2024 school year! Our goal is to create a yearbook that everyone in the school can take ownership of because they are included in the book. We are excited to document another momentous year in SLHS history and can't wait for you to be a part of it!

Links to upload your senior pictures, buy a yearbook, or buy a senior baby ad are all located at the bottom of this page.

PUBLICATION POLICIES

Name Policy

Students’ formal name listed in Infinite Campus on or before December 1st will be used. Any name changes after December 1st will not appear in the final publication.

Content Policy

By virtue of the fact that publication is student conceived, planned and produced, as well as a product of an academic program, there are certain guidelines that must be put into practice ethically and legally.

Journalistic in nature, the publication attempts to inform and entertain its audience in a broad, fair and accurate manner on all subjects that affect readers in the areas of lifestyles, academics, clubs and sports. The entire student body constitutes the target audience for the book with secondary audiences including parents, school personnel, community members and other scholastic journalism groups. Content focuses on coverage that will meet the wants and needs of the majority of these students.

While the staff not only allows, but also encourages, constructive criticism of any part of the publication, before or after distribution, final authority for the content rests solely in the hands of student journalists and their adviser. Despite the court ruling in Hazelwood vs. Kuhlmeier, administrators rely on the advisor and staff to make appropriate content decisions.

No material, opinionated or otherwise, will be printed which is libelous, irresponsible, advocates an illegal activity or which the editorial board and/or adviser deem in poor taste.

Portrait Policy

All students and school personnel must have their portraits made with the official school-selected studio photographer to be included in the current volume of the publication, as well as used for administrative purposes. Additional to a photograph from the school-selected photographer, seniors are granted permission to submit a vertical headshot to the publication. The publication will not allow suggestive, satanic or crude clothing or anything that violates school dress and behavior code to appear in photographs. The offending student will be notified but is responsible to correct the photo by the announced deadline. Any photos of seniors that arrive after the announced deadline are not guaranteed to appear in the publication.

Required Submission method: Digital Upload via Link (ReplayIt)

Photo Requirements: Minimum 2x3 inches, vertical, 300 DPI

Book Distribution Policy

All students who ordered and paid for a yearbook will receive one on the designated distribution day. Unclaimed book will be held for the student for a period of 90 days. The adviser will work with yearbook representative to find an acceptable solution for yearbooks with quality issues.

When possible, exchanges can be made for books with minor flaws if no writing has been done in the book. If a book has been written in, then no exchange can be made unless the adviser feels the flaw in the book is of major proportion (pages missing, pages in upside-down, etc.). It will be the responsibility of the buyer to provide proof of purchase if the staff can provide no record. A valid receipt or a cancelled check deposit in the publication account will constitute proof of purchase.

Complaints about or requests for refunds for non-quality-related issues, like misspelled names, missing ads or page content, will be made in writing by the purchaser and submitted to the adviser within 14-days of distribution.

Attribution Policy

Should any photograph or article be provided from an outside source, attribution will be given in accordance with the style agreed upon by the yearbook staff.

Advertising Policy

All advertising accepted by the staff must meet the same guidelines as the content and portrait policies. Acceptance of advertising does not constitute an endorsement by the school, the staff as a whole or its individual members.

Obituary Policy

Should a student and/or school personnel die anytime during the current coverage period, the staff will treat the death in a tasteful, respectful manner. The portrait of that individual will appear in the portrait section for the appropriate grade as it would under normal circumstances, and the name of the person and dates of birth and death will be set in a 30% black box. Parents and friends will be given the opportunity to purchase a memorial ad in the reference section of the yearbook, if pages are still available.

Senior baby ad information will be mailed home the week of Sept. 25-29, or you can go to the link: www.theyearbookcompany.com
