Physical Education Classes at Standley Lake
Team Sports
- Grades 10-12
- Prerequisite: Course instructor signature
- Fee: $22 P.E. uniform and fee
Team Sports courses provide students with knowledge, experience and an opportunity to expand their skills in more than one team sport (such as tennis, golf, badminton, basketball and volleyball).
This class may go bowling one day per week during block days (the fee is approximately $3 each time). Students will drive or ride with classmates to the bowling alley with parent approval and signed waivers.
Recreation Sports
- Grade 12
- Prerequisite: Any P.E. class
- Fee: $5 P.E. fee
Recreation Sports courses provide students with knowledge, experience and an opportunity to develop skills in more than one recreational sport or activity. On-campus activities may include basketball, badminton, team handball, floor hockey, football, soccer, tennis, Frisbee and volleyball. Off-campus activities may include bowling, “laser-maze,” wall climbing, yoga, self-defense, golf, water ball, racquetball and stadium tours. All activities are subject to change each semester. This class is offered to seniors only and may be taken only one semester.
This class will experience a variety of off-campus activities at an estimated cost of $60 per student in addition to the $5 P.E. fee.
Advanced Weights
- Grades 10-12
- Prerequisite: Any P.E. class

Advanced Weight Training uses advanced skills and weight training techniques. This class is designed for the male and female athlete.
Lifetime Fitness
- Grade 9
- Fee: $22 P.E. uniform and fee
Lifetime Fitness is a mandatory class for all ninth-grade students. The class emphasizes acquiring knowledge and skills for a life of physical fitness. Content may include related topics such as nutrition, stress management and consumer issues. Students may develop and implement a personal fitness plan. This class will incorporate physical activities such as team sports (badminton, basketball, volleyball, etc.) and basic weightlifting safety and skills.
Physical Education in Jeffco
The mission of Physical Education (PE) in Jeffco Public Schools is to empower students with the skills, knowledge, habits and confidence to live happy, healthy and physically active lives.
PE is an important, standards-based educational component in grades kindergarten through 12th grade.
